What is penetrating damp?
Penetrating damp is when water makes its way through the walls of your property. It can be caused by a number of things, including damage/defects in the wall, poor drainage or overly porous masonry. It can cause wall staining, peeling paint/wallpaper and create a damp smell which is unpleasant for all. If left for too long, it can cause further damage.
Thankfully, the team at Probuild Contracts Preservation is only a call or email away. We are one of Edinburgh’s go-to specialists in penetrating damp, and will come up with an effective solution to resolve the issue and keep future damp at bay.

Penetrating damp: a case study:
Issue: "I've noticed water stains and peeling paint on the interior walls"
Solution: Upon inspection, we found that the external walls lacked proper waterproofing, allowing water to penetrate through the masonry. To address this issue, we first repaired any cracks and gaps in the brickwork. After this we applied a high-quality water repellent coating to the exterior walls to create a protective barrier against moisture. Additionally, we recommended improving the drainage around the property to prevent water from accumulating near the walls.
